KG LEWA, GERMANY LEWA wanted to move special pumps weighing up to 12 t in sequence through a drying process, in a way similar to that of a circular chain con- veyor. At the same time, the coating system had to be compact. The product carriers with the workpieces are transported 90° “around the corner”. In order to achieve this, the running rail is divided within the dryer. The rotating suspension allows the carrier to retain its move- ment position. Up to 7 product carriers with a total load of 84 t are therefore able to move through a very confined space. 1 Since narrow radii are not possible with a circular conveyor, a new solution was developed, involving rotating elements on the overhead-guided running rails and the undercarriages of the friction- wheel-powered product carriers 2 All workstations fit into a footprint of 15 x 25 m: Loading and unloading crane, washing cabin, coating cabin, dryer and after treatment 1 1 2 REFERENCE PROJECT
